Founded by the Greene sisters in 1901, for over 120 years, Moreton Bay College has encouraged girls to be the best they can be. Moreton Bay College is a Prep to Year 12 Uniting Church School for girls and consistently rates as one of Brisbane’s top performing schools.

The College is an authorised Primary Years Programme (PYP) International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The PYP IB programme is the framework withinwhich we teach the Australian Curriculum.

Location

Our College is located in the 19 hectares of spacious, landscaped grounds leafy bayside suburb of Manly West, just 15 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD and from Brisbane Airport.

Moreton Bay College boasts some of the best academic, cultural and sporting facilities in Queensland, set amongst native trees, green ovals and landscaped gardens.

Academic Programme

 Moreton Bay College has a long tradition of academic success. Over 90% of graduates go on to further studies. Achieving the best educational outcome for each individual student is always the main objective for our teachers. To deliver these results, our academic programme draws on current educational, psychological, physiological and related fields of research. Our curriculum provides a comprehensive programme at all levels – to stimulate, inspire, motivate, and push the boundaries of the girls’ cognitive, affective and physical abilities.

Prep to Year 6

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) promotes inquiry-based learning as the means for developing deep conceptual understanding, the acquisition of essential knowledge and skills and the taking of responsible action. It seeks to develop the whole person - a students’ academic, social and emotional wellbeing - by engaging children in issues of local and global significance.

Year 7 to 10

With more than 18 subjects, the curriculum provides students with the opportunity to experience many subjects and develop their strengths before entering specialised courses in their Senior Phase of Learning. The model of engaging in core and elective subjects enables students to have sufficient breadth while discovering areas of enjoyment and proficiency.

Years 11 and 12

The curriculum offering for Senior Secondary provides the widest range of possible choices for students, with more than 30 subjects to choose from.

At this stage of their schooling students choose subjects that suit their skills and abilities and complement their future goals. Students graduate with at least one of the following qualifications: QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education), ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) or VET (Vocational Education and Training) qualification. The majority of our students continue on to further study at university.

Co-curricular clubs and groups

Moreton Bay College has a proud tradition of wide co-curricular choice in both the cultural and sporting arenas, and today offers one of the best ranges of co-curricular activities in the State, including:

 Sport – The College offers a range of sports including swimming, touch, basketball, tennis, water polo, sailing, hockey, equestrian and gymnastics.

Music – The College has a leading contemporary music programme as well as a strong traditional offering. Private music tutoring is available, as well as a range of music groups for students to join (e.g. Rock Band, Choir, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble).

Cultural and Community – Opportunities include dance, art, drama productions, debating, chess, public speaking, Duke of Edinburgh and Leos Club.
